Lotensin

Drug General Information

This drug is an inhibitor that is used in the treatment of high blood pressure or other medical conditions as prescribed by your doctor.

Medicine taking

Follow the instructions given by your doctor. This medicine is to be taken on an empty stomach or with some food. The missed dose is to be taken immediately as soon as you remember, the remaining doses are to be taken at regular intervals. However, if according to the schedule the next dose is to be taken within a short period of time, it’s recommended to skip the missed dose and take the rest of the days’ doses as specified.

Precautions

In case of taking clozapine, indomethacin, lithium, potassium, azathioprine, diuretics, or other drugs used to treat diabetes inform your doctor before taking Lotensin as it might require additional monitoring of your condition.

Make sure you also inform your doctor of any allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding, as this drug may cause serious harm to the fetus if taken from the 3^rd to the last month of pregnancy. Do not stop taking this medicine without previously consulting your doctor.

For women: Use of this medicine during pregnancy has resulted in fetus harm and death; if you are planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor in order to learn about using this medicine and any risks involved. Lotensin passes into mother’s milk, so if you are breast-feeding make sure you consult your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

Side effects that might occur during treatment, include nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea; headache; dry cough; dizziness or lightheadedness when sitting up or standing; or fatigue Consult your physician if experiencing these or any side effects that appear to be bothersome.

Consult your doctor immediately if during the period of treatment you are experiencing shortness of breath, hives, irregular or slow heartbeat, chest pain, swelling of hands, face, lips, eyes, throat, or tongue; difficulty swallowing or breathing.

An allergic reaction to this drug (rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing) is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Lotensin is likely to cause drowsiness, especially at the very beginning.

Storage

The drug is to be stored away from direct light or open fire. Keep out of the reach of children, especially medicine that has been discarded.

Overdose

The main symptoms of Lotensin overdose are dizziness and unusual weakness. In case of the drug overdose immediately contact the doctor

Do not share this drug with those to whom it was not prescribed. Use this drug only to treat specific medical conditions as prescribed by your doctor. If using this medicine for an extended period of time, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
