Imitrex

Drug General Information

Imitrex is a drug used for migraine headache treatment.

Medicine taking

Imitrex is to be taken as necessary, when a migraine attack occurs. It is not indicated for routine administration.

Precautions

You mustn’t take Imitrex without consulting your doctor in case you have allergy to this drug, Raynaud syndrome, history of strokes, heart disease, transient ischemic attacks, uncontrolled blood pressure, peripheral vascular disease, high cholesterole, diabetes. Some of these might appear to be direct contraindications while other conditions can mean you require additional monitoring of you condition or dosage adjustment.

In you are taking headache medication, ergotamine or MAO inhibitors make sure you also inform your doctor about it.

Possible Side Effects

Possible side effects you might experience when taking this drug include dizziness, nausea, fatigue, drowsiness. If these symptoms continue or appear to be bothersome, contact your doctor.

Storage

This medicine is to be stored in its container at room temperature away from direct light, moisture and heat. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.

Overdose

In case of the drug overdose immediately contact the doctor.

Do not share this drug with those to whom it was not prescribed. Use this drug only to treat specific medical conditions as prescribed by your doctor. If using this medicine for an extended period of time, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
